Don't tell me you didn't see this comin'...

I remember every little thing
As if it happened only yesterday
Parking by the lake
And there was not another car in sight
And I never had a girl
Looking any better than you did
And all the elves in Middle-earth
Were wishing they were me that night....

Chapter Eighteen

Ithil. Only someone who knew Elvish would refer to Ithil when discussing the moon and the stars in the sky above. If she’d doubted before, the doubt was completely gone now.

It WAS him.

And he was everything she’d dreamed of. Handsome, and strong, and charming, and cute, and smart, and polite, and so... so...well, the only word that came to mind was perfect.

That was it. Perfect.

As she lay there in his arms, delighting in the unique scent of him, basking in the warmth radiating from him, she realized he had stopped mid-sentence.

“It’s okay,” she whispered.

And then she stretched herself upward, leaned her head in, and gently caressed her lips against his.

For a moment she actually felt the world turn backwards. Not just stop, but take a quarter-sized click of rotation completely in the other direction.

“Woew...,” he sighed.

So he’d felt it too.

She watched in fascination as she let her hand move upward to trace the outline of his jawbone, skimming across the exquisitely chiseled cheekbone, gliding down and over his upper lip where he parted his lips and let his tongue dart out, drawing her finger in to be grasped gently between his teeth. Their eyes met then, and his hunger was plain within.

She blinked twice, slowly, like Faline on “Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer”.

He took a deep breath that must have stretched his lungs clear down to his toes.

And that’s when it happened again.
