as I sing for you tonight....*

Life is so unnerving
For a Prance who is not serving
He's not whole without a soul to wait upon
Ah, those good old days when I was useful...
Suddenly those good old days are gone.
Ten months at al's I've been rusting
Needing more than vacuuming and dusting
Needing exercise, a chance to use my romantic skills!
Most days I just lay around the castle
Flabby, fat and lazy
You walked in and oops-a-daisy!
Be my guest!
Be my guest!
Be my GUEST!!!!!

Chapter Fourteen

She couldn't believe it when he drove her straight to her favorite restaurant without even asking what her favorite was. Held the door open for her as they entered. Pulled out her chair to let her sit down at their table. Totally and completely ignored the waitress trying to flirt with him.

They began with Strawberry Lobsterita’s. She giggled when he plucked the Lobster Beads off her glass, leaned over the table, and hung them around her neck. She did the same with his, only she got out of her seat and came around behind him to lift his hair as she hung them around HIS neck.

She wondered how he’d look wearing nothing but Lobster Beads.

She ordered the shrimp scampi, and he ordered the grilled grouper. While they waited, they discovered things about each other. Like how much they both loved the little cheesy biscuits that were served as hors d’oeuvres. That they both thought keeping lobsters in tanks where people had to watch them wait for the boiling pot was incredibly sad. That one day they both wanted to visit the ocean and watch the waves crash against the rocks and make rainbows in the spray out of the sun’s reflection.

When the waitress came bearing plates of salad, she discovered he had an affinity for the little red cherry tomatoes that she absolutely couldn’t stand. He also gobbled up his cucumbers, though he did it quite royally and without the circumstance the term “gobbled” would imply. She wasted no time passing her tomatoes and cucumbers across the table to him. He readily accepted them, giving her a shy smile in the process. In return, she noticed that once her croutons were gone, he carefully slipped his across the table and onto her plate when he thought she wasn’t looking.

She thought he had the most beautiful set of eyes she had ever seen.

When the waitress came to take their plates, he accidentally bumped his knee against hers. He blushed and apologized profusely at first, but she noticed when she dismissed it and wouldn’t let him make anything out of it, there soon was the gentle but persistent pressure of his knee against hers under the table. She wanted right then and there to trade seats, to sit beside him so the length of his thigh could get acquainted with hers, but she was afraid she’d scare him off.

Instead, she settled for slipping her right sandal off and sneaking her toes up the leg of his trousers and pushing down the cuff of his socks. On both sides. He shot her a look once he realized what she was up to. She just looked him dead in the eye and smiled sweetly.

She adored the twinkling challenge that sparkled there in his baby blues.
